Mahbubnagar: With Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao already announcing that he would not ask for votes if he failed to provide tapped drinking water to each household, the pending works of Mission Bhagiratha in Mahbubnagar district has become a matter of big worry for the TRS leaders in the district.

Though majority works of laying pipelines and construciton of major overhead tanks and filter houses are nearing completion, still there are 72 works of pipeline laying connecting national highways and seven pipeline works connecting the railway lines are peding as the officials have not taken up these works as it requires the cutting of major roads and pass under the railwaylines.

Worried over the delay, Panchayat Raj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, Health Minister Dr Laxma Reddy and MP Jitender Reddy along with other peoples’ represnetatives reviewed the works of Mission Bhagiratha and asked the engineering officials concerned to speed up the works. “

There are 79 pending works involving laying of piplines connecting national highways and railway lines in the district. Because of this, there is a delay. However, we have asked the officials to prepare an action plan and speed up all the pending works to ensure that every village gets connected with water piplines and pumpsets by the end of October ,” said Minister Jupally Krishna Rao.

The officials were also asked to send new proposals for the construciton of overhead tanks where ever there was a need for the additional tanks. “Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is determined to provide drinking water through taps by January 1, 2018.

We have asked the officials to work in coordiantion and prepare a scheduled action plan to complete all the pending works on time,” informed Health Minister Dr Laxma Reddy, while attending a review meeting with the engineers and officials concerned with the Mission Bhagiratha works.

While referring to some incomplete works, regarding laying of pipelines and leveling of trenches after laying of pipelines, the officials have been directed to level the agriculture lands whereever the pipleline was being laid and not to cause any inconvience to farmers.
