Mahbubnagar: Sports lovers in Mahbubnagar will soon get advanced sporting facilites in the main stadium. As the faciliteis in the present stadium are inadequate to conduct large scale sporting events, the State government had given an administrative sanction of Rs 2.50 crore for the renovation and modernisation of the main stadium.

As part of this, MP Jitendar Reddy, MLA Srinivas Goud and SACS Chairman Venkateshwar Reddy laid foundation stone for the renovation and modernisation works of the stadium.

Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas Goud and Jitender Reddy said the State government was striving for the all-round development of the State and as part of that, it was focussing on developing sports in the State.

“Government is always on the forefront to encourge sports. Youngsters must inculcate sporting activites right from the schooling level. Government is providing all kinds of facilities and students must utilise them to bring laurels to the state and their families,” Srinivas Goud said.

At present, the main stadium is all in shambles with no proper running track. There are no seperate grounds for different sports like foot ball, cricket and hockey. Under modernatisation, the district administration is planning to build seperate grounds for each sport and planning to develop new running tracks.

“The main stadium is not able to accomodate different sports and we have been facing lot of problems to conduct simultanious sports. Now with the modranisation, we are planning to conduct simultaneous sporting events and also construct separate grounds for practising.

The running tracks will also be renovated. Very soon, the district sportspersons will get modern facilites at the main stadium,” informed Ms Satya Vani, District Youth and Sports Officer.
