The SEC conducted a meeting with regard to local body elections with district collectors of Khammam DS Lokesh Kumar and Bhadradri-Kothagudam Rajiv Gandhi Hanmanthu along with police commissioners and district Panchayat Raj officers here at Technical Training and Development Centre in Khammam on Wednesday.
Speaking at the meeting, Nagi Reddy suggested the officials to take all necessary steps for conducting local body elections three months in advance before the term ends in July 2018.
He ordered the officials to check the ballot boxes and Electronic Voting Machines beforehand and complete the repairing works if any apart from completing the voter enrolling process by January 2018.
Asking the officials to go through the affidavits submitted by the contestants at the time of polls, the Commissioner appointment of Shadow Registrar to supervise the process of observation of details of candidates.
“If any candidate indulges in irregularities, declare them as unfit to contest,” he said, adding that action would be taken against the candidates those involve in rigging and others as per the law.
“Earlier in the united Khammam district, the elections were conducted in three phases. But as the district is bifurcated into two, the District officials must submit the report in how many phases they are going conduct the local body elections in their respective districts,” he advised.
Joint Collectors T Vinay Krishna Reddy and Ramkishan, Khammam Trainee Collector Hanmanthu Kodimba, Bhadradri-Kothagudem Superintendent of Police Amber Kishor Jha, Secretary of TS Election Commission Ashok Kumar, Joint Secretaries Jaysimha Reddy and Vishnu Prasad, Chief Executive Officer of Khammam Zilla Parishad Marapaka Nagesh, District Revenue Officer J Shivasrinivasulu, Panchayat Raj Officers K Srinivas Reddy and R A Sri Latha, Divisional Commissioner of Police Ganesh, Assistant Commissioner of Police Shaik Ismail and K Suresh Kumar were present along with others.
