Bhupalpally: The district forest department is organising a two-day ‘Rock Climbing Festival’ at the historic Pandavulagutta to promote rock climbing and eco-tourism activities.

The festival will take place on September 2 and 3. Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary, District Collector A Murali and other senior officials will take part in the inaugural session, informed the district forest officer T Ravi Kiran.

He said nearly 150 persons have registered for the festival. Many of those registered were rock climbers and adventure club members from Hyderabad and students from National Institute of Technology, Warangal.

In all 120 routes were identified along the cluster of rocks for the event. The departments planned to promote Pandavulagutta as a potential destination for rock climbing and trekking for adventurers, Kiran noted. The festival is the first of its kind to be held in the State.

10 professional rock climbers will be available to assist and guide the participants. Lessons on rock climbing, dos and don'ts and safety tips will be given to the participants before they begin to climb.
