Khammam: The representatives of the Communist Party of India (CPI) held a road blockade at Ambedkar Centre on Thursday in protest against the delay in road laying works between Bonakal and Allipuram.

Speaking on the occasion, party district secretary Bagam Hemanth Rao stated that the road laying works between Bonakal and Allipuram, which started a year ago, were not completed yet, and the delay has been causing severe hardships to people.

“The road is in worst condition due to the negligence of the contractor. The craters and potholes on the existing poor road are causing several accidents leaving many people injured. Despite repeated appeals, the officials are turning a deaf ear,” he criticised.

The government must take immediate action against the contractor and also on the officials who failed to address the issue, he demanded.

Meanwhile, police officials interrupted the road blockade and cleared the traffic. Party leaders SK Jani Miya, BJ Climont, Thati Venkateshwar Rao, Y Sambashiva Reddy, Anugu Gandhi, Manda Venkateshwarlu, SK Yakub, Somojula Sarojanamma, Nanbala Rama Krishna, Adepu Ashok, Mekala Krishna and Veera Babu took part in the protest.
