Warangal: The CPI (M) city wing has launched a door-to-door survey on Friday on the problems being faced by the citizens. The survey would be conducted till September 7 followed by a massive demonstration at Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) office on September 8 to put pressure on the GWMC to address the public issues.

The party Warangal urban district secretary S Vasudeva Reddy said the ruling party leaders were making false claims on Warangal city development. The condition of roads, drains and drinking water supply were in bad shape, he pointed out.

The Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, during his past visits to Warangal promised underground drainage, outer ring road, industries for employment generation. But those promises were not yet delivered. The corporation must tell the public how it spent Rs 300 crore budget allocated to the city development, he demanded.

Vasudeva Reddy said that there were nearly 200 slums in the city, where the people live in pathetic conditions. Much hyped double bedroom housing to make city free from slums has come to a naught.

On the other hand, the municipal corporation, which failed to ensure better amenities to citizens, was imposing financial burden on people in the name of sanitation and increased water tax. The result was that poor and middleclass sections were being affected.

The party leaders G Prabhakar Reddy, T Uppalaiah and G Venkat were present.
