Hanamkonda: The ruling TRS party has been propagating bad culture in targeting the Opposition leaders by foisting false cases on them, alleged the District Congress Committee (DCC) president, N Rajender Reddy.

He said the culture of booking Opposition leaders in fabricated criminal cases was in practice in Rayalaseema region and now the TRS leadership was bringing it into Telangana.

But such tendency was not good and would spoil the healthy atmosphere in the State politics, he observed.

It might be noted that the district Congress president’s name was figured in the police remand case diary as the A4 accused in the murder of TRS corporator A Murali that took place in Hanamkonda on July 13.

TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy, senior leader V Hanumantha Rao and others have taken serious exception to the inclusion of Rajender Reddy in the case and termed it as an act of political vendetta by the TRS.

Rajender Reddy, who secured anticipatory bail from the High Court on Thursday, spoke to presspersons in Hanamkonda on Friday. While denying his role in the murder of the TRS corporator, he demanded the State government order a CBI inquiry into the case.

The truth behind the case would come to fore if the CBI probe was ordered. The TRS, in a pathetic manner, was making use of the murder of Murali for its political gains without any concern for the family of the deceased person, he stated.

‘I have good relationship with Murali. He invited me to attend various programmes he had organised as the corporator. I have also invited him for the iftar party I hosted during this Ramzan festival,’ Rajender Reddy noted.

Stating that there was no enmity between them, he said he is ready for any punishment. ‘By pressuring the police to indict me in the case, the TRS leadership was damaging the reputation the Warangal police enjoy in the public,’ he maintained. The ruling party leaders were unable to digest his political growth in the district, he added.

‘As a leader of Congress, I trust in people support and judiciary. The public would teach a fitting lesson to the TRS at the right time,’ the DCC president said while thanking his party leaders and his followers for standing by him during the crisis.

City Congress president Katla Srinivas Rao, its working president, Rajanala Srihari, TPCC general secretary Namindla Srinivas, block Congress president N Laxma Reddy and others were present.
