Khammam: The Communist Party of India (CPI) found fault with the State government toying with idea of constituting village-level Rythu Samnvaya Samithis (farmers’ coordination committees), stating that it would invariably pull farmers into politics.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, district council secretary Bagam Hemanth Rao said the government’s move to establish farmers committees was undemocratic and politically motivated.

“The proposed move will bring back the days of Bourgeois besides creating a volatile atmosphere in villages,” Rao said, objecting to the idea of constituting farmers committees.

A comprehensive land survey would resolve the land issues in villages. The coordination committees consisting of members nominated by the government would aggravate the situation further instead of solving the issues, he said.

Referring to the public health situation in the district, he criticised the government for not taking remedial measures to control the viral fevers and other maladies.

He criticised the KCR government for not observing the Telangana Liberation Day on September 17. He said CPI would observe Sayudha Porata Varotsavam from September 11 to 17, by organising meetings across the district in addition to their State Council’s bus yatra. He said that the bus yatra would reach erstwhile Khammam district on September 13.
