Hyderabad: Minister for Health Dr C Laxma Reddy has clarified that the government was ready to give support to the Nerella victims and treatment at the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS).

Speaking to the media with NIMS director Dr Manohar here on Saturday, Laxma Reddy said the government was ready to bear the expenditure for their treatment. “The Congress party, he said was politicising the issue of Nerella victims and was enacting high drama," he said. When the six patients were admitted, the NIMS doctors conducted all the required tests including X-Ray and ultrasonography, the minister said.

"As their condition was good enough to be discharged, the doctors decided not to keep them at NIMS. If NIMS diagnostics went wrong, why the private hospitals were not admitting them? Both private and NIMS diagnostic reports were same," he said.

He also said the police had gone to NIMS because of Congress leaders staged dharna at the hospital. He ruled out allegation of involvement of police and others in the treatment of patients. Further, he said the doctors had advised them to take treatment as out patients. But the Congress party was trying to politicise this issue and enact a drama and blame the government of being indifferent to the problems of the victims.
