Boath (Adilabad): Telangana JAC president Prof Kodandaram on Sunday undertook Spoorthi Yatra in memory of Telangana Martyrs in Neradigonda mandal of Boath constituency in Adilabad district.

The yatra proceeded via Sonala, Ichchoda and Gudihatnoor. Earlier, he kicked off the yatra after garlanding the statue of BR Ambedkar. A motor cycle rally was taken out in the town. He also garlanded revolutionary leader Chakali Ilamma on the occasion of her death anniversary. Several people’s organisations and political outfits expressed their solidarity to the yatra. A public meeting was held under the hawk eye of the police.

Coming down heavily on the State government, Kodandaram, who exposed the hollow promises of the government, accused the government of adopting a new ruse to dupe the public in the name of farmers’ coordination committees. He advised the government that the committees should be beneficial to the farmers but not to the government.

Reminding the people in general and farmers in particular, that September 10 is observed as the World Suicide Prevention Day and called upon the farmers to emulate the example of Chakali Ilamma and fight against the system instead of succumbing to the system by resorting to suicides.

He demanded the government to provide minimum support price to the cotton farmers as the Adilabad cotton farmer incurred heavy expenditure this year by way of input costs.

People were instrumental either in the formation of the government or in exposing its misdeeds, he said explaining the objective of his Spoorthi Yatra – to work with the people’s coordination.
