Hanamkonda: As the district Congress leadership was busy scouting for a suitable candidate to contest for GWMC 44th ward by-election, the ruling TRS was urging the Opposition parties to cooperate in electing its candidate unanimously.

Congress senior leaders have on Sunday met at the residence of the party district president N Rajender Reddy in Hanamkonda to review the party’s plan of action and to select a candidate to field in the election.

City Congress president K Srinivas Rao, TPCC secretary Namindla Srinivas, MLA D Madhava Reddy, ex-mayor Errabelli Swarna, former chief whip GV Ramana Reddy, former minister G Vijayarama Rao, ex-MLA V Narender Reddy, senior leader Enagala Venkatrama Reddy, TPCC secretaries EV Srinivas Rao and Battini Srinivas Rao discussed about the probable candidates.

It was said that there were six aspirants intending to contest the by-election.

Rajender Reddy informed that the party nominee for the election would be declared on December 26 after consultations with party cadre. He asked the workers to be prepared to take up door-to-door campaigning after announcing the candidate. At a meeting held at the TRS urban party office on Sunday, Warangal (West) MLA D Vinay Bhasker and Mayor N Narender have announced that the slain corporator of 44th ward Anishetty Murali’s wife Saritha would be the party nominee.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA and the Mayor have appealed the Opposition parties to ensure Saritha gets elected unopposed. When Murali was murdered, all parties have condemned his killing. Now keeping aside party differences, all should support the slain corporators’ family, the leaders stated.

They called upon the TRS workers to make committed efforts to win the election with huge majority, in case polling was necessitated. Later on the day, Vinay Bhasker, Narender and KUDA Chairman M Yadava Reddy have called on city Congress president Srinivas Rao and requested him to elect Saritha without contest.
