Warangal: Congress leaders have demanded the State government to release Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) founder-president Manda Krishna Madiga immediately.

It might recalled that the MRPS leader along with his followers was arrested by police on December 17 as they tried to take out a protest rally to Tank Bund in Hyderabad, holding the government responsible for the death of the Samithi activist Bharathi during a recent protest.

Speaking to presspersons in Warangal on Sunday, city Congress working president Rajanala Srihari, party SC cell district president Polamari Vijay and market committee former chairman Manda Vinod Kumar have sought unconditional release of the MRPS leader. They accused the TRS government of violating the democratic rights of the public in the State. Every individual and organisation have a right to stage protest in support of their demands. But the government was undermining such right.

Both the State and Central governments, instead of addressing the MRPS demand of SC categorisation, were trying to suppress its movement. The Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, was employing police force in a brutal manner in suppressing the democratic agitations, alleged Srihari.

The CM must remember that MRPS has extended its unconditional support to Telangana statehood cause and its activists have fought for the cause. It was sad that the Samithi activists were now subjected to undue repression, he added.

Congress BC cell district president K Srinivas, minority cell president Md Ayub Khan, party leaders and others were present.
