Karimnagar: While people in the State are facing severe hardships, the bigwigs in the State government are soaking in celebration in the name of awards, former TPCC president and Chairman of the State-level Implementation Committee of the Congress Ponnala Lakshmaiah said. Speaking to presspersons here on Sunday, he said that cancellation of Indian Science Congress scheduled to be held on the campus of Osmania University was a huge setback for the TRS government.

“Cancellation of Indian Science Congress proves the inefficiency of the TRS government,” he said, referring to the failure of the law and order situation in the State.

Telangana is in second position in the country in terms of farmers’ suicides according to national crime bureau. The Rythu Swarajya Vedika survey says that 3,400 farmers ended their lives since the formation of Telangana, Lakshmaiah said, questioning the TRS government’s good governance claim.

Referring to the arrest of Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi founder-president Manda Krishna Madiga, he alleged that the government is trying to bulldoze the rights of the people. He said that their party would go into the elections with the slogan of ‘KCR Hatao – Telangana Bachao’.

Referring to the local issues, former Lok Sabha member Ponnam Prabhakar demanded the Karimnagar MP B Vinod Kumar to reveal what he had done to people so far in last three and a half years.

“What about the assurances given to Telangana in the AP Reorganisation Act-2014,” he said, demanding Vinod Kumar to reveal his efforts.

Referring to the Kazipet-Karimnagar railway line, Prabhakar said: “I pursued it when K Rosaiah was the chief minister of united Andhra Pradesh. Now the MP acts that he was fighting for the demand.”

The MP totally failed in protecting the interests of Karimnagar people. He couldn’t even get the Centre’s nod to run the Karimnagar-Tirupati express on daily basis, Prabhakar said.
