shilparamam Arts, Crafts & Cultural Society organised the weekend cultural activities at its premises over the weekend. The cultural events began with Mohiniattam performance by Nitya Anandaraman. Mohiniyaatam is a classical dance form of Kerala.This dance form is unique with its slow, graceful, swaying movements of the body and limbs and highly emotive eye and hand gestures.

Mohiniyaatam is a classical dance form of Kerala.This dance form is unique with its slow, graceful, swaying movements of the body and limbs and highly emotive eye and hand gestures.

She performed for items like Cholkettu; it is an invocation that starts with offering reverence to a goddess Bhagavati and ends with a prayer to Shiva. Karuna Cheyvan Enthu is a Malayalam keertanam composed by Irayimman Thampi on Guruvayurappan. It depicts the story of Krishna and his childhood friend Sudama. She enthralled the audience with her flawless effort.

Later, Ramadevi along with her students of Srivaripadalu Bharatnatyam Dance Academy performed for various items of Bharatanatyam. The group rendered for items like Pushpanjali; it is the first dance in a Bharathanatyam performance. It is the salutation to the lord of dance Nataraja, the Guru, the musicians and the audience.

Sri Maha Ganesha Pancharatnam; it is a famous sloka addressing Lord Ganesha who is the destroyer of obstacles. As the name suggests it is a sloka containing five passages (Pancha) which are gems (Ratnam). Lord Ganesha is also one of the six Gods - the worship of whom was popularised by Adi Shankaracharya.

The group also performed on items like ‘Jathiswaram’, ‘Nrittanjali and Sthuti’, ‘Sadinchane O Manasa’, ‘Nee Maatalu Maayanura Sami Palukara’, ‘Srimannarayana’ and ‘Tillana’. The group mesmerised the audience with their spellbinding show.
