Hyderabad: Indian Institute of Technology-Roorkee (IIT-R), hosted a one day Industry-Academia event titled "D’Conscientia 2018" on the occasion of World Humanitarian Day on 24th August with an aim of generating awareness among students for disaster related issues and to promote knowledge sharing.
This year's event focus is on the theme "Tools and techniques for disaster management".

The event's endeavour is to bring contemporary practises of disaster management to the students and for the benefit of human welfare. The event included expert lectures, panel discussion, industrial exhibition and online technical poster competition. The event saw enthusiastic participation from the students. Explaining about the event Mahua Mukherjee, Head, Centre of Excellence in Disaster Mitigation and Management at IIT Roorkee said, "The Centre of Excellence in Disaster Mitigation and Management's aim is to conduct academic program, cutting edge research and training on disasters, vulnerability and mitigation.

This being such an outreach programme, we have invited experts from several field including academia, NGO and industry to this event to learn from the industrial and field implementation experts on the theme of Disaster Management. This is an annual event and we are receiving good response from the industry and academia alike." The event was organised by M Tech students of CoEDMM, IITR with Prof. Sumit Sen, Prof. Inderdeep Singh and Prof. Ajanta Goswami as the faculty advisors.
