Obesity Leads to More Than 65 Diseases, World Anti Obesity Day, Surgery Hospital. Dr Riyaz Khan, general manager, operations, Nova Specialty Surgery Hospital said, “We would like to reach out to more number of people by this campaign to make Hyderabad, a slim city.

On the occasion of World Anti Obesity Day on Tuesday, Nova Specialty Surgery Hospital would observe Obesity Awareness Week from November 26 to December 2. On this occasion, Nova is offering free comprehensive consultation by a team of specialists comprising of a bariatric surgeon, plastic surgeon and a dietician.


Speaking on the occasion Dr Mahidhar Valeti, senior consultant bariatric surgeon and chairman, Obecure Foundation said that obesity is a major preventable health problem worldwide. This is largely due to the consumption of high calorie refined foods and lack of exercise. He further said that obesity can lead to more than 65 diseases including diabetes type 2, hypertension, heart disease, obstructive sleep apnea, osteoarthritis and cancer.
