There are many problems caused by high heels. Some these problems are minor and can be sorted with physiotherapy. But as women continue wearing regularly even as they age it will require medical treatment.

When your pair of heels makes your feet slant downward then they do cause a lot of troubles. It even affects the structure of the foot, and the rest of the body. So, when the feet remain in this lifted downward position for many hours then it shortens the achilles tendon. Once it is gets shorter then wearing flat shoes feels uncomfortable as the bone hits the ankle muscles that touch the floor.

In such a case, you can periodically lower the height of the heels. This means you gradually address the issue without causing great discomfort to the foot. You get a new pair of footwear each month. It can also help to walk barefoot at home.

Other problems caused by wearing high heels include the following:

-Stress fracture: Cracks or breaks in the bones are more common as people age.

-Twisted/sprained/broken ankles: This happens from turning a foot while wearing a high-heeled shoe.

-Pump Bump: An enlargement of the back of the heel making it stick out and be red or swollen.

-Joint pain: You will face this problem in especially in the toes and on the balls of the feet, the joint can become chronically irritated, and this is worsened when heels are worn all the time.

-Neuroma: This is a tissue growth under the toes that results in extreme pain.

-Back problems: This may be related to wearing high heels and having poor postural alignment.

With so many potential problems, it’s a good idea for people to choose to wear heels only occasionally, or to only wear them when they are required, as in a party.
