Every year, November 2 is observed as World Vitamin D Day to recognise Vitamin D deficiency as a global issue.

Researchers believe that at least one-third of the world population is deficient in Vitamin D. Vitamin D is obtained from exposure to sunlight and now, more than ever before, the world population lives an indoor lifestyle, avoiding the sun. It’s currently estimated that 2,000 to 3,000 of our genes are in some way responsive to Vitamin D. If Vitamin D is inadequate, they function poorly, and the genetic expression of poorly functioning genes is the recipe for all major illness today.

Research is pointing to the fact that - Vitamin D can help you prevent, fight and manage chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, auto immune diseases, infectious diseases, arthritis, asthma and many more. Not only this, Vitamin D can also improve pregnancy outcome, and help our younger generation fight autism, depression and insomnia. Vitamin D is also proving to be a critical factor in age-related dementia, Alzheimer’s etc.
