Aakar Asha Centre for Enablement of Physically Disabled, formed under the N Swain Memorial Trust, organised its sixth one rupee reconstructive surgery camp at SAFA, Banjara Hills. The camp was organised to enable the physically disabled lead a normal life through reconstructive surgery. The ambitious initiative aims at bringing the hospital’s highest quality surgical expertise for those with physical deformities through the six month long campaign.

Aakar Asha Centre for Enablement of Physically Disabled, formed under the N Swain Memorial Trust, organised its sixth one rupee reconstructive surgery camp at SAFA, Banjara Hills. The camp was organised to enable the physically disabled lead a normal life through reconstructive surgery. The ambitious initiative aims at bringing the hospital’s highest quality surgical expertise for those with physical deformities through the six month long campaign.

A series of such camps have been planned across slums in the city. Already five such camps have been conducted across Kukatpally, Balanagar, LB Nagar, Tolichowki and Mehdipatnam. The camps have been hugely successful and have received an overwhelming response from the public. So far Aakar Asha Hospital has identified 160 people and performed surgery on 112 patients.

Dr Bharatendu Swain, director and managing trustee of Aakar Asha Centre of Physically Disabled, said, “This is our sixth camp and we are pleased with the response we have received from the people. We aim to help people overcome their physical challenges and lead a happy and confident life. We have already reached a large number of people and we hope to aid more people with this camp today.”
