Heal app can get doctors to your doorstep

London: A new app, Heal, will now " uber" over a doctor to your doorstep at times of need.

There are marijuana delivery services that send over a doctor to you for " insomnia" and other needs for weed, but the Los Angeles-based firm aims to deliver traditional doctors, complete with a black bag, stethoscope and other portable, hi-tech gadgets, to you, reported TechCrunch.

Heal founder Dr. Renee Dua, a board certified kidney specialist, said that she came up with the idea after spending a whole night in the ER for her infant son's cold. She said, "It was awful. When your kid is sick you need a simple way to get a doctor fast." However, no pediatricians were available that night and so, she had to sit in the waiting room with her sick son.

It was then that she realized that something else was possible.

The idea however, is not original, with other similar services like, Doctors Making Housecalls operating in North Carolina and Pager in the Manhattan area of New York City.

Heal promises to deliver a doctor in an hour at any time between the hours of 8 a.m and 8 p.m., seven days a week. For now, the app is only available for iOS users in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Its Android version is expected to follow soon.
