Rajouri (Jammu and Kashmir), Nov.22 (ANI): Healthcare facilities in Jammu and Kashmir, over the years, have witnessed a gradual development with the government setting up various new hospitals.

These hospitals are equipped with advanced technologies which help in providing quality treatment to patients.

To give a further push to the sector, the government has upgraded the facilities at a 200-bed hospital in Rajouri district.

The hospital now has a separate OPD block and extra beds.

Dr.Aneese Muhammad, Superintendent, District Hospital, Rajouri, said, "The old hospital was had a capacity for 100 beds. With the passage of time, the need for more space was felt. This new building was constructed and in 2010 we took its charge. It has capacity for 200 beds, however, we have made an adjustment for 250 beds. Almost all specialties like orthopaedics, ENT, dermatology, ophthalmology are available here".

He added, "The hospital covers Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi districts. The important thing about this hospital is that it is located alongside the Mughal road. Further improvements are being carried out in the hospital. The separate OPD building is also completed and we are soon going to take over it".

The hospital building was constructed at a cost of 36.37 crore rupees.

It is equipped with facilities like computed tomography scan, Ultrasonography, Magnetic resonance imaging and positron emission tomography to optimise the medical services.

The new facility will cater to the needs of people of Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi districts, who had to travel either Srinagar or Jammu for specialised treatment.

Muhammad Ishtiyaq, a resident of Rajouri said, "I felt that OPD is shifted to another building and now emergency and OPD services will be carried out separately. It will be of great help to people".

The government's efforts have given a fillip to the healthcare facilities being provided at the healthcare institutions across the state.
