Urban Fitness release Bengaluru Fitness Index at SnowFlakes 2015 Amid the fun and frolic at the SnowFlakes 2015 festival organised by Balance – The Club, Urban Fitness released a report detailing the fitness levels of Bengaluru’s residents.
Balance – The Club in association with Urban Fitness organised SnowFlakes 2015, a carnival for wholesome family entertainment at XLR8 Indoor Sports Centre, Bengaluru. All proceeds from the day-long event went to the charity partners of the event, U&I, an organisation that aims to provide educational opportunities to underprivileged communities. The highlight of the annual Snowflakes 2015 event in XLR8 indoor stadium was Urban Fitness’ unveiling of Bengaluru’s Fitness Index compiled from residents around the city: 5.9022.
The score, out of a possible 10, means that the city’s residents have an excess amount of body fat compared to what is optimally required with below moderate activity. Bengaluru's Fitness Index will have serious implications should it not improve.
A whole host of stalls and activities provided a varied experience for those who attended. As they do every year, Balance – The Club had a dedicated kids play area including a bouncy castle, merry-go- round, and a cornucopia of games which the kids could play to win little prizes. Another area was stuffed with accessories and a variety of other products that were put on display in a little flea market. It ranged from potential home buying opportunities with Expat Group to various clothes and accessories for people to pick from. For the first time, SnowFlakes hosted a variety of food truck with delicious offerings that left the crowd spoilt for choice. The families and youth at XLR8 were also engaged in several activities including a treasure hunt, Housie, and Tambola.
Apart from the regular family fun, there was also a designated fitness zone, in keeping with the ‘healthertainment’ concept of Balance – The Club. Urban Fitness and Once More Crossfit organized some fitness-related activities that piqued the interest of all who were present as they flocked to participate in the challenges set up at the fitness zone. Henry D’Souza, CEO of Expat Leisure & Resorts Limited spoke on the occasion, saying: “We believe that the purpose of SnowFlakes is to create a space for family enjoyment in the community. In that interest, every year the festival tries to add something unique to its wide range of offerings.
“This year, apart from the usual games, activities, and shopping, we also added a fitness zone, food trucks and made the space a Wi-Fi-enabled zone. “We even ensure that we have the right partners for SnowFlakes, ones who fit into our vision of ‘healthertainment’ for Balance – The Club. It sets the tone for people who participate to not only have a good time, but to walk away with a holistic, fulfilling experience.”
