NanoHealth is a social enterprise founded in 2014 by a group of alumni from the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad, with the aim to become a one-stop shop for all chronic disease care. NanoHealth became the first ever Indian team to win the 1 Mn $ Hult Prize, awarded by President Bill Clinton in 2014, and launched its services across Hyderabad.
One in four people living in a slum is either a Diabetic or has a Cardio-vascular condition and does not even know about it. Two out of every three deaths that occur today, across the world, are because of chronic diseases which are silent killers and can cause premature death, and may also lead to serious long term complications requiring expensive treatment. Despite the growing burden of these diseases across socio-economic strata, most people do not get themselves proactively screened for these disease conditions. Even for people who have been diagnosed with chronic diseases, it is difficult to find the right treatment and follow their prescriptions.
At NanoHealth, we provide a community based solution to each of these problems. We arrange regular screening camps where we identify patients who are at high risk for Diabetes and Hypertension, and then send these high–risk patients to our physician network. These qualified doctors ensure that the patients get the right treatment. The patients also gets discounts on consultation fees. Only limited number of tests are done and only low cost medicines are prescribed. Further, all diagnosed patients are put on our NanoSafe Plan where they get monthly monitoring and counselling service at their doorstep.
Manish Ranjan, Co-Founder and CEO adds, “ Our goal is to save premature deaths by managing blood sugar and blood pressure levels of people suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension. NanoHealth hires female community health workers, called Saathis, which means “Friends” in Hindi. Our Saathis are local community members who are trained and certified by us. NanoHealth encourages all the confirmed patients to enroll with our NanoSafe Plan, which provides regular follow-up on patients to monitor relevant disease parameters and to provide appropriate counseling. We are proud to announce that patients enrolled under NanoSafe plan has shown great progress in managing their blood sugar and blood pressure levels.”
Dr. Ashish Bondia, Co-Founder and Director, says “Our main aim is to reduce the socio-economic cost of chronic diseases. We support the patient through the disease lifecycle and provide affordable care at the doorstep. “
NanoHealth is presently working in 60 communities across Hyderabad. We have successfully screened 30,000+ people and 1000+ patients have enrolled in NanoSafe plan already. We aim to reach out to 50000 more people in next 6 months.
NanoHealth currently partners with Tabeeb, a US-based healthcare firm with an international virtual network of specialist doctors, to provide a world class virtual doctor network that will soon become accessible to all our patients.
