More than 50.8 million people in India are affected by Diabetes. India stands first in the number of diabetic patients in the world. With the rate increasing exponentially, it has become utmost important to make people aware about Diabetes.

More than 50.8 million people in India are affected by Diabetes. India stands first in the number of diabetic patients in the world. With the rate increasing exponentially, it has become utmost important to make people aware about Diabetes.

Techfest, IIT Bombay this year in collaboration with Rotary Club, will conduct a mass Diabetes checkup drive on a PAN India level under the name of CURED (Can You Really Escape Diabetes?).

To target more than 1,00,000 people across the nation, 100 free diabetes checkup camps will be placed at various locations in Mumbai, 50 checkup camps will also be placed in 17 districts of Maharashtra along with 50 more camps in 8 other states in India.

People can have free diabetes checkup along with free consultation of doctors at every camp on September 25, 2016.

The campaign will be launched on August 21, 2016. The website for the initiative www.techfest.org/cured will also be launched on the same day.

The details of the launch are as follows:

  • Dr. Indumati Gopinathan (Noted pathologist)

The launch will be followed by a panel discussion by the eminent delegates on diabetes.

They will discuss symptoms, current status of India, measures being taken to curb diabetes, effect of diabetes on the youth of our country, etc. This will be followed by a question-answer round by the audience and media.
