Hyderabad: Health Minister C Laxma Reddy on Sunday inspected the land on which a super speciality hospital is proposed to be constructed at Mylardevpally near Rajendranagar here.The Minister’s visit came in the backdrop of the government’s proposal to fast-track construction of four super speciality hospitals in the four corners of the city in an effort to provide better medical facilities to the people living in the residential areas on the outskirts.

The proposal hospital are intended to provide healthcare on a par with Gandhi Medical Hospital, Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) and Osmania Hospital.Speaking on the occasion, Laxma Reddy said the outpatient services had already begun at the NIMS hospital in Bibinagar and the inpatient services would commence as soon as the construction is completed.

He said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had directed the District Collectors of Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy to identify and acquire suitable lands for the construction of the hospitals. Construction would start as soon as the lands are acquired. The government had already earmarked funds for hospitals.

Currently Gandhi, Osmania and NIMS, he said, are burdened with the super speciality and critical care services and the government intends to reduce the pressure on these three hospitals. The new hospitals would help in reducing the travel time for the patients living on the outskirts of the city and in the adjacent rural areas in securing super speciality medical services.NIMS Director, Dr Manohar, Bibinagar NIMS Hospital Superintendent, Dr Maheswar Reddy, senior officials from the Health Department and officials from the TSMSIDC engineering wing were present.
