Doctors are warning people to take extra precautions to avoid illness through sunlight which lead to skin problems and cold weather can also cause strokes. Doctors also suggest a regular bath, increased intake of water, the appliance of sunscreen and body lotion and proper hygiene to avoid skin diseases during winter.

Dr Anand, Dermatologist of Kims hospital, said, “Two things are most important: one is motorizing to the skin and the second one is health care. People must apply the moisturizer immediately after the bath. In morning time, once you’re going out, you should have the habit of applying sunscreen lotion. This lotion should apply all over the face and neck at least for 20 minutes before going out. In some cases, like tanning, we have to apply it twice a day,”

It may sound strange to many people, but sunlight also cause problems during winter months, Dr Anand advises people to protect their skin against the sun which may cause Photodermatitis that appears in the form of rashes, blisters or scaly patches. “I examine many patients every day with this problem,” he said.

People should cover and apply sunscreen lotions every three to four hours to protect their skin from the harmful UV rays.

“People who can’t face UV rays and get tanned due to the sunlight skin will become dark. So, you need to get some basic skin care.” he added.

Many people often skip baths during winter which is unhealthy for them. “There is an increase in the number of incidents of tinea, which is a form of fungal infection that occurs during the winter season. Proper hygiene is a must to get rid of it.” Dr Anand added that patients of eczema should use ammonites and moisturizing creams.

“They are many chances of stroke for diabetic and blood pressure patients increase in winter due to exposure to cold. Some may experience more pain in winter in joints and other parts of the body as pain sensitivity also increases, especially for asthma patients, they need to keep their inhalers always with them because it may cause nasal blockage due to cold air” said Dr Anand.

“Most of the patients come with skin problems such as Psoriasis, Eczema, Acne, Hair loss and Fungal Infections. We treat them according to the best result suits them to cure. We give them antibiotic and to apply moisturizer cream.” He shared.
