l EAMCET to be online from 2015: APSCHE
The AP State Council for Higher Education (APSCHE) on Thursday announced the schedule of all common entrance tests to be held next year.
According to the schedule, the all important EAMCET will be held on May 17 while the results will be declared a fortnight later on June 2.
The notification will be issued on February 10, Prof L Venugopala Reddy told the media in Hyderabad.
However, he hinted that the schedule could be revised if the dates clashed with election dates, which are likely to be announced in February.
“This will be mandatory as most centres could be used for electoral purposes. Moreover with most staff called for poll duty there will be manpower crunch,” he reasoned.
He explained that in view of political and social uncertainty in the State, the Council preferred to play it safe and retained last academic year’s pattern.
“We don’t want to take risks. The conveners, application process and syllabus will all be more or less the same, except in Intermediate where there is some up-gradation” Prof Reddy said.
According to the schedule, ICET will be held on May 23; ECET on May 10; Ed CET on June 2; LAWCET and PGLCET on June 6; PGECET from May 26 to 29 and PECET on May 5.
Another important examination POLYCET (Polytechnic entrance test) will be held on May 21.
“The online application process will commence from April 6 and the last date for filing is April 28. The results of POLYCET will be announced on June 5” Ajay Jain, Commissioner of Technical Education said.
Compared to last year, POLYCET was delayed by 15 days due to adjustment with other CET dates.
The Council endeavours to make EAMCET an online examination from 2015 onwards.
“We hope so... Let’s see if we can deliver or not,” Reddy said.
Prof Venugopala Reddy pointed out that talks with regard to fee fixation by AFRC (Admissions and Fee Regulatory Commission) will begin on January 2.
“Last year there was inordinate delay in fee fixation as many colleges failed to cooperate. Moreover the process began very late in June. We don’t wish to go that way and by the time the results are out, the fee fixation of each and every professional college shall be completed. The student should know the fee of a particular college he or she wishes to join. This will also help us in meeting the deadline set by Supreme Court that admissions must be completed before July 31. Classes have to commence on August 1,” Reddy elaborated.
In fact, the AFRC has fixed fee for each college till 2016. So, there is no need for any revision.
Later talking to The Hans India, Ajay Jain explained, “As nearly 200 colleges have not uploaded their data as per our proforma and failed to respond to our queries, their fee was not fixed last year. The managements went to Court and got a direction and accordingly we have fixed a tentative fee ranging from Rs 25,000- 30,000 only for this academic year. This has to be reviewed. So the talks will involve only those 200 colleges. This is a big relief for us and we can stick to apex court deadline. More importantly, it will come as a huge bonus to the student community as a whole.”
