The India Gadget Expo held in the city in June was touted to be one of the biggest gadget expos in the country.
The India Gadget Expo held in the city in June was touted to be one of the biggest gadget expos in the country. Unfortunately, the event got a cold shoulder from the masses. Now, the International Gadget Rush would be hosted in the city from October 31 which promises to make Hyderabad a launchpad for brands. The bigger question here again is will it garner the needed attention ?
While the whole nation was gripped during the launch of iPhone 6 on Thursday midnight, the mood in the city was somewhat different. The launch event of the phone at Taj Vivanta was also the curtain raiser to International Gadget Rush (IGR) which would be held at JRC Convention from October 31 to November 2.
“IGR would be the country’s largest launchpad for brands,” said Varun, concept head of IGR, in an exclusive interaction with The Hans India.
The mega tech event is expected to be attended by nearly 200 companies with their latest products, technologies, tools and inventions.
“We have been seeing that all the tech launches happen in Delhi or Mumbai, but hardly any come down to Hyderabad. The objective behind hosting an event of this magnitude is to make Hyderabad the launchpad for brands,” he said.
When questioned whether the new gadget expo would attract crowds after the India Gadget Expo failed to make a mark in the city in June, despite support from the State government, Varun said, “I believe what went wrong with the Indian Gadget Expo was the timing. It was a good show but at the wrong time. We on the contrary would be hosting a bigger event at the time when most companies introduce their products. This way, we will have the opportunity to give the audience more and newer products.”
He continued, “The attendees would have hands-on experience with gadgets at the event. These also include gadgets with the Mozilla OS, Xiaomi series of smartphones, which many in the country are yet to see.”
Varun highlighted that after the expo, brands could also pitch for retail as well as franchise opportunities in Hyderabad.
The event would be the first-in-its-kind expo which would merge gadgets and automobiles. “Yes, we are also going to have cars at the event. International brands like Mitsubishi and several Indian brands would be exhibiting their cars,” he said.
“We aim at uniting more than one lakh retail buyers, distributors, manufacturers, market analysts, importers and exporters from India and across 100 other countries,” Varun added.
The International Gadget Rush, which will take place for three days, will be uniting two events together: Gameathon-a gaming tournament based on games of X-Box, Play Station and PC games and iNNOVATE, where students pursuing science, technology and engineering exhibit their creations. Twenty colleges would be chosen to compete and a 10 minutes slot would be given for stage presentation. The judge panel will include venture capitalists, IT heads, business leaders, industrial veterans, ministers and bureaucrats.
