Edgy but childish at times

‘Khatron ke Khiladi – Darr ka Blockbuster Returns Season 6’ is back promising more action in terms of challenges and spooky horror but does it succeed?

What’s it all about - Touted as being the show , which will pump up your adrenalin level like never before, ‘Khatron ke Khiladi - Darr ka Blockbuster Returns’ is back on Colors with the contestants performing dare devil stunts to win the title. This is the sixth season of the show and the second one where we see noted Bollywood director and stunt master Rohit Shetty hosting the show and pushing the contestants to their limits.

There are 14 contestants in all who will be part of the nerve wrecking challenges and death defying stunts designed by Rohit Shetty. This time the concept of fear takes a different turn in the show and the contestants will be surrounded by the ‘fear factor’ in every step even at times when they are not on the battle field facing challenges. So fear in fact will follow them 24 by 7 with various themes like ‘Insomnia week’, ‘Bollywood week’ and ‘Horror week’ related to it.

The show, which went on air from 7 February will be telecast every Saturday and Sunday at 9 pm, has 14 contestants - Ashish Choudhary, Hussain Kuwarjerwala, Harshad Arora, Iqbal Khan, Sana Khan, Sagarika Ghartge, Rashami Desai, Asha Negi, Ridhhi Dogra, Meiyang Chang, Rakesh Kumar, Siddharth Bharadwaj, Nathalia Kaur and Archana Vijaya battling it out and the first elimination last week was of the chocolate boy Harshad Arora.Already shot in picturesque Cape Town, in South Africa the contestants have been made to sign a contract, which expects them not to reveal the winner!

What’s Hot –

The show really looks tougher this year with the contestants getting grilled right from the first episode that had live crocodiles, helicopter dives and climbing dizzying heights and excel in it all to stay in the game. It is being done on a massive scale with the stunts upping the fear quotient. No doubt Rohit Shetty is the perfect host for a show like this since he looks like someone who himself can perform the stunts and adds an extra thrill to the show.

While every year we see a mix of men and women must say that this year the girls look more confident and eager to prove themselves to be long lasting players in this game. The contestants staying in a house named ‘Darr ka Ghar’, which is probably shown to be haunted too is a unique addition this year.

What’s Not -

However, the same Darr Ka Ghar looks silly when you see the contestants go all woozy while experiencing the amateurish horror built in into the house. This looks unnecessary and was completely avoidable since it looks like a fiction show with bad acting! As in all reality shows which are scripted we see some acting stunts too here like Sana Khan who seems to be scared of everything, but manages to give her best while doing her task despite all that noise! Rohit Shetty admonishing Siddharth Bhardwaj looked like a drama too! Asha Negi getting scared due to a ghost in the middle of the night too was hard to digest.
