Brochures of travel companies are usually picturesque in describing the touristic spots otherwise who would care to visit unattractive places or dull spots. Picturesque places are idylls of attraction such as the ones in Himalayas. India may have picturesque places but they are poorly maintained. If only we can turn them neat and clean, the picturesque spots can bring peripheral employment and revenues for the local areas.

The Ministry of Tourism has to identify the picturesque spots across the country, and inform the citizenry otherwise who would inform them other than the movies?

Picaresque is a style or genre or type of literature or fiction which deals with episodic adventures of rogues, crooks, vagabonds, rascals and others who are often likeable. The protagonists or picaresque fiction are likeable, though they could be roguish.

Cervantes also incorporated elements of the picaresque into his greatest novel, Don Quixote. The title of the novel Don Quixote gave birth to the word quixotic.
