Hyderabad: Expecting that over 35,000 Ganesh idols would be immersed in Hussain Sagar lake in Hyderabad on September 27 and 28, the GHMC officials are all set to ensure smooth and hassle- free idol immersion event. Arrangements are being carried out with an expenditure of over Rs 10 crore.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation officials told The Hans India that as many as 162 Ganesh Action Teams (GATs) were set up to monitor the ongoing works for immersion process along with 70 sanitary supervisors, 364 Sanitary Field Assistants (SFA) and 2,762 workers have been deployed to complete the works on time.

One GAT consisting of one Sanitary Supervisor, three sanitary field assistants and 21 workers would be posted on the procession route for every three to four km. As many as 500 entomology workers would be deployed at Tank Bund and NTR Marg to clear the garbage and about seven cranes that would be engaged on Tank Bund and NTR Marg consisting of 42 workers would ensure smooth immersion of the idols.

The officials said that they would ensure that all the street lights would function on the day of immersion which covers 388.5 km with intent not to create inconvenience to the public during night time and arrangements were also being made to provide mobile toilets to facilitate the public. In order to avoid inconvenience to public, the traffic police are also planning to impose traffic diversions on the idol immersion day.

Apart from Tank Bund, 23 other lakes including lakes at Kapra, Saroornagar, Rajanna Bavi, Miralam Tank, Palle Cheruvu, Patti Kunta Cheruvu, Durgam Cheruvu, Malkam Cheruvu, Gopinagar Cheruvu will witness immersion of the idols.

To avoid pick-pocketing, snatching and other offences, adequate bandobust with over 20,000 police personnel are also being deployed on the days of immersion.

The senior police officers in Hyderabad and Cyberabad have roped in volunteers including ex-servicemen to take part in the immersion event.

The officials said adding that, public address systems, 450 CC cameras, several She Teams and area wise control rooms would also be set up during the immersion days.
