A huge hall with kiosks all around emanating heavenly flavours from the live counters making dosas, kebabs and grills, parathas and stuffed rotis, tawa fries Hyderabad House’s ‘Zaiqa-e-Ramzan’ held at Pillar No 47, Mehdipatnam and Khilwat Grounds, near Chowmahalla Palace is delectable experience for food lovers who will be spoilt for choice.

The Special Ramzan fare opens at 5 pm and closes at around 5 am (from Iftar to Sehri) and people arrive in droves with friends and family, order food from live counters, and the simple seating and a wee bit warm interiors thanks to so much food being cooked live, does not seem to prevent them from devouring the various dishes with much delight.

The affordable pricing, popular items on the menu cooked to perfection street style, informal ambience and above all the month of Ramzan that is as much known for its spirituality as it is known for the delicious Iftars all come together to make Zaiqa-e-Ramzan a true festival of the season.

There are Hyderabadi counters serving Mast Paya Shorba which is mast hot and spicy, Tezzz talawa ghost, aloo ghosht asifjahi and murgh paigah. The most popular counter is ofcourse the kebabs and grills that include pathar ka gosht generously marinated in masala just the right amount tender and chewy, sheek kebab, Banjara kebab, and then you have kirrak kaleji, Rampuri dumdaar seena.

After all a Ramzan Iftar in Hyderabad is incomplete without the kaleji, bheja, seena and gurda; so do look out for some options on the Tawa items menu too. And when you are here do try the Mazedar mutton chops sinfully oily and deliciously spicy this goes well with tandoor roti. On the stuffed roti menu are the Baida roti and the Kolkata’s Kaathi roll.

Yet another counter that’s not to be missed is the one that serves Dosa – and for the non vegetarians there is the Kheema dosa. To serve your sweet tooth, there are desserts like kheer puri, double ka meetha, jalebi and qubani ka meetha on the menu. When so much is on offer, haleem usually takes a back seat, yet haleem lovers can try the Hyderabad House version doused in ghee.
