In a bid to encourage students into taking Civil services as a career option, Sreenidhi Institue of Science and Technology (SNIST) launched ‘Civil Services Aspirants’ Club’ at their campus here on Saturday.

In a bid to encourage students into taking Civil services as a career option, Sreenidhi Institue of Science and Technology (SNIST) launched ‘Civil Services Aspirants’ Club’ at their campus here on Saturday. The Management, Administration and Faculty have come forward to render special training and guidance for the Civil Services Aspirants who are presently pursuing III year of engineering education in SNIST.

Mahesh M Bhagwat, Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad East, gave a detailed explanation about the Civil Services Examination pattern and the optional subjects to be chosen for preparation for Prelims and Main Examinations. He also explained about the distribution of marks at different levels of examination.

As a matter of fact, it was Mahesh M Bhagwat who had coined the idea to start the Civil Services Aspirants’ Club at SNIST. The idea was welcomed by the SNIST Management and K Jawahar Mahhi, Advisor of SNIST responded immediately and began the required work. The enthusiasm and response from the students came as a surprise to both the SNIST Management and also to the dignitaries with 750 third year students enrolling for Civil Services Aspirants’ Club within a span of two days.

Witnessing the overwhelming response, Mahesh M Bhagwat offered to be a Mentor for the Club. A Venkat Rao, Retd IG, stated in his address, the importance of ethics and values required for all aspiring candidates for Civil Services Examination and explained the yeomen service that can be rendered to the society at large.

APVN Sharma, Retd IAS & Advisor to the Hon’ble Governor of Telangana & Andhra Pradesh who presided over the function, laid emphasis on the decision making skills of the students and told them how to prioritise various options in their career. He mentioned about the key skills apart from general aptitude that are necessary for any student to succeed in life.

K Jawahar Mahhi, Member, Board of Governors, SNIST & Retd IRS, mentioned that SNIST Management would provide all the support necessary to the Civil Services Aspirants for their preparation. He also mentioned that Dr P Narsimha Reddy, Execuitive Director, SNIST was instrumental in germinating the seed sown by Mahesh Bhagawat for establishing the Civil Services Aspirants’ Club.

Dr P Narsimha Reddy, Executive Director, SNIST, said that engineering students had the required skill and aptitude to succeed in Civil Services. He re-iterated that nobody is born genius and nobody is born idiot; It only requires a person to stay focused, plan the career objective and work toward it with enthusiasm and commitment.

Some students spoke about the various activities charted as part of Civil Services Aspirants’ club and their plans to accomplish them. The function ended on a high note with the vote of thanks being proposed by P Sushma, a third year B Tech student.
