The festive season has begun and what better a traditional attire than one crafted in silk? It’s good news for people looking to shop for upcoming festivals; the annual eight-day ‘Silk Expo’ was inaugurated at Sri Sathya Sai Nigamagamam in Srinagar Colony on Saturday.

The festive season has begun and what better a traditional attire than one crafted in silk? It’s good news for people looking to shop for upcoming festivals; the annual eight-day ‘Silk Expo’ was inaugurated at Sri Sathya Sai Nigamagamam in Srinagar Colony on Saturday.

Organised by the Silk Mark Association of India, Ministry Of Textiles the expo is housing all kinds of options. This includes Chiffon silk sarees, Arganja silk, Tassar, Silk, Muga and Eri sarees and suits of Bihar, Kanchipuram silk sarees, Triveni handlooms, jute silk sarees, deva silk sarees Bhagalpur, Sajabo Jatane silk of Kolkata, classy silk of Uttar Pradesh and Venkat Sai Gadwal hand painting sarees of Telangana.

Speaking about the expo, organiser and owner of Silk Mark Association of India, Y Srinivasa Rao said, “Silk weavers, handloom clusters and silk co-operative societies from different States are showcasing products here. The specialty of expo is that it has pure organic materials with 100 per cent natural silk.

“There are 47 stalls out of which 15 are from Telangana. The timing couldn’t be better this year with the festive season upon us. We are displaying products it for Bathukamma, Dussera and Diwali. People will be more interested during the fest and due to rain also they are grapping their attention towards our expo. We are also offering 20 percent of discount,” he said.
