Popular YouTube comedy group East India Comedy (EIC) performed at Marriot Hotel in the city over the weekend.The group comprising Sorabh Pant, Sahil Shah, Sapan Verma, Kunal Rao, Azeem Bantawalla, Angad Singh Ranyal and Atul Khatri tickled the ribs of the audience with their satirical take on contemporary issues.

And rightly so, jokes on demonetisation were the hottest and most enjoyed. Rao’s satirical take on problems faced by the ‘common man’ was the highlight of the evening.

Next up was Kunal in conversation with Azeem on ‘Uniform Civil Code’. Sapan spoke about how fake baba’s deceive poor people in the name of God.

At the end, Pant along with his team presented “debates” as they occur on broadcast media these days. Needless to say, no one’s “voice” was “heard” and every joke had a bang on punch line.

The seven-member group also discussed topics like climate change, the big debate, Donald Trump and black money.In 2012, Pant, comedian and writer, founded EIC and the group has done more than 130 shows in India so far.

EIC’s All Stars Double Header is the biggest live tour and the most ambitious comedy collective till date. This year the all seven of EIC core members will perform together in six cities in India. The event in the city was held as part of the comedy fest ‘Masala Mayhem’.
