All India Markazi Majlis-e-Chistia in collaboration with Department of Language and Culture is conducting a programme titled ‘Mehfil-e-Nizami’ in Basant Celebrations as part of Happening Hyderabad. In the event lyrical compositions of Hazrath Amir Khusrau Ra will be recited on February 1 at 7.30 pm, at Dargah Hazrath Shaik Ji Hali Ra, Urdu Shareef, behind Pathergatti and is organised by Telangana Arts and Cultural Council.

In North India, the spring season is the most charming and beautiful amongst all seasons. The yellow mustard flowers ripple in the fields. It is now that the festival of Basant is celebrated by the Hindus since ancient times. Few of us know that Basant or Vasantutsav is traditionally celebrated not only by the Hindus but also by many Muslims in India.

The Chishti Sufi Saint Hazrath Amir Khusrau (1253 AD - 1325 AD) began the celebration of Basant amongst Indian Muslims in as early as 13th century. Dress code: Yellow kurta, Cap, Head Band, Scarf, Turban/Shamla or Shawl. For more details contact: 9948095554.
