The four-day ‘Conference of Dental Surgeons’ began at KIMS Hospitals in Secunderabad on Thursday. Organised by the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India (AOMSI), the event focuses on imparting knowledge and orientation for ‘Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons’.

Speaking after the inauguration, CEO and MD of KIMS Hospitals Dr B Bhaskar Rao advised young participants to learn and acquire knowledge imparted by the international and national speakers during the conference. Further he stressed on the importance of two-way learning rather than the one-way learning process.

The four-day aims at providing a fair idea of sterilization protocols for better prognosis, basic principles of oral surgery like anesthesia, oral anatomy & physiology, frequently performed minor surgical procedures as disimpaction, apicectomy, implantology, cyst removal, Oro-facial infection & management and TMJ disorders & Management.

Explaining the objectives of the conference, Dr Prasad Meka, Chief Consultant implantologist, KIMS Hospitals said, “With the advent of technology and radical changes in treatment methods, making it easier, more accessible and less complicated, the Master Class strives to provide updated knowledge and help the upcoming surgeons effectively in this direction.

Surgical procedures to be carried out under GA such as orthognathic surgery, trauma care, cleft lip and cleft palate, oral cancers and management besides management of dental emergencies will be explained.”

“There are also dedicated sessions on advanced diagnostic aids and imaging techniques like ‘Cone Beam Computed Tomography’, which is a three dimensional scan useful in the treatment planning for precise diagnosis and treatment plan,” he added. Also present on the inaugural day were Dr Rajasekhar G - Organising Chairman, Dr Pramod Kumar - DCI Counsel Member and Dr M Pratyusha - Director, KIMS Dental Care.
