It was a day of fun well-deserved for the students of GITAM University as they began their annual technical cultural management festival ‘Pramana-2K17’ in the city on Thursday.

It was a day of fun well-deserved for the students of GITAM University as they began their annual technical cultural management festival ‘Pramana-2K17’ in the city on Thursday. The fest, organised by School of Technology, School of Science and Hyderabad Business School (HBS), had more than 500 students from across the city participating in the many competitions.

The fest was officially inaugurated by G Padmanabham, Director of the International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy & New Materials (ARCI) in the presence of with Principal, School of Technology Professor Ch Sanjay, Pro Vice-Chancellor, GITAM School of Technology Professor N Siva Prasad and others.

Addressing the gathering, Prof Prasad said, “Start to learn something out of the classroom. Interact with experts and industrial officials. Convert ideas into innovation. These type of fests brings students together and give an opportunity to exchange ideas and knowledge.”

Motivating the students, Padmanabham said that knowledge or its application goes much beyond the classroom. “Profession means something which is practiced and we learn a lot through practicing,” he said.

Further, he added that practical knowledge does not come from books or by rote learning. “One can gain knowledge by interacting with professionals in the field. One should start thinking of developing something that you acquire,” he said.

During the first day competitions were held in choreography, BizScitech Quiz, Movie Quiz, JAMs, Philosophers Quest, Tech Talks, Classical dance, Group Dance, Kalakriti Band, Carnival, Multi Lingual Musical and others.

Sharing the excitement surrounding the fest, third year student of GITAM University, Prathyusha said that ‘Pramana’ is the biggest annual festival, which gives them a platform to interact with students of other colleges. “When compared to last year, we have many new programmes and competitions this time. This year carnival, dance drama, band and other cultural events have attracted many of us,” she said.
