Having started off with EDM and Big Room, Shaan has now evolved his sound and has set the bar exceptionally high for producers all across the country. Shaan launched his career at Asia’s biggest music festival – Sunburn Goa in 2010 at the mere age of 15. He then went on to being the first Indian to ever perform at the prestigious Tomorrowland Festival in 2014, making him the youngest DJ to play at an International festival.

His debut single ‘Light up the world’ ft. Lauren Evens was picked up by Statement Records (Armada) and quickly rose to the Beatport Top 15 charts.Shaan has shared the stage with industry pioneers like Tiesto, Hardwell, Afrojack, David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia, Axwell and Ingrosso, Kaskade and Blasterjaxx and has performed all over the world at festivals- Ministry of Sound, London; Djakarta Warehouse Project; Budweiser Storm, Shanghai and many more.

How did the EDM journey start for you?
It really just randomly started, but the true start was when I went to Sunburn in 2008, when it was just starting.

Why did you choose to become a DJ than a mainstream musician?
In 2010 DJing was unique and different, it excited me to do something that was totally out of the box and untouched in the Indian market.

What was your parent’s reaction when you told them that you wanted to become a professional DJ?
The first answer was ‘No’, although I initially said it was a hobby. Over the time, I proved to them by playing at their parties that I was good and then they gave me a very doubtful yes. In any case, their support has been out of this world from the start of my journey!

What sets you apart from the competition?
I explore, I never stick to one sound, I like to challenge myself. I'd say even my sets are a journey. I really try to keep away from playing the commercial cheesy music at most of my shows. Even if I have to play it I make sure it fits in with the vibe and journey I want to take the audience on.

Who is your inspiration?
Michael Jackson, he had always inspired me as a kid and he still keeps inspiring me.

What goes through your mind when you make a track?
My emotions at that moment; when I'm creating something new it has to come from the heart- without that it becomes just another track. There are days where I don't feel much and I just can't write any new music.

What are your future projects?
Many! I have lots and lots of new music out this year on Armada Music & for free download as well. Each track has its own story and is very unique. I've even collaborated with some of the biggest artists in India, Asia and the US!
