‘Memory Weave’ an exhibition, which draws close resemblance to textiles was inaugurated over the weekend at Shrishti Art Gallery, Jubilee Hills. This exhibition showcases art works by Nandan Ghiya, Sonia Jose, Nidhi Khurana, Shuchi Mehta and Mahesh Pottabathini. The works are curated by artist V Solanki Jamwal. The exhibition is about life patterns and the way these patterns weave into our memory. There are landscapes, maps, contours on wood, aerial view of mountains and pixilated glitches, which show the trends and lifestyles.

“My art works explains layer memory, history, experience, tradition and skill. I mostly work on woven images that I learnt from my father. I had interest in art since my childhood. I did my Bachelor of Fine Arts recently from Hyderabad. My works speak in many directions. Usually they are a combination of two art forms i.e. one in background and other in foreground,” said artist Mahesh Pottabathini.

Explaining his experimental form, he shares,“My recent work ‘Transforming Nature-2016’ narrates the story of the process of creating a sari, in which a girl in an Ikat dress in the background is a faint-wash; while in the foreground, a girl drapes threads over her hand similar to the way a sari would be displayed in an exhibition or a fashion show; immediately creating an association with the viewer’s memory. These threads connect with the lotus, which in ancient scriptures was associated with the origin of cloth,” he shares.
