Sly Tech, a passion project of software engineers, is more than a bar. Enter the lounge and a slur of graffiti welcomes you with a promise to make the time you spend at Sly Tech more vibrant and colourful. Located in the busiest part of the city, Kondapur, Sly Tech has all the potential to become one of the cool and hip places for youngsters, especially the ‘IT Guys’, of the city to hangout.
The founders of the bar made sure that apart from making the place innovative they leave no stone unturned to keep their menu equally exciting. A typical IT person can relate to the names on the menu and cheer to the failures, which are cathartic in a sense but on a more joyous side.
Start you Sly experience with ‘Whiskey Techno’, which is a blend of whiskey, lime, and orange juice with cherry essence. Follow it up with a desi-style concoction ‘Aampanna in the house’ – made with vodka, aampanna syrup with mint leaves and lime juice, with a dash of black salt. Aampanna is without a doubt a favourite cooler for Indians, and when mixed with vodka it becomes tastier.
The ‘Chakna’ (starters) is very integral part of the drinking experience. We all enjoy some off-beat kind-of-food when we gulp a peg or two. Order for ‘Trainees’ Kolkata jhaal moori’ – made with rice puffs, onion, tomato, green chillies and garnished with radish, coriander, lemon wedges.
The traditional Bengali favourite with a ‘Dirty Dustbin’, which is a mix of vodka, tequila, white rum and gin topped with a dash of cranberry juice and orange juice is a combination to look out for. In case you do not like the bhel puri version of the East try ‘Natwarlal’s sadak chaap aloo chat’ – fried potatoes tossed in green chutney and chat masala, garnished with straw potato, coriander and lemon wedges.
Peanuts, the all time favourite of tipplers takes a modern leap and becomes ‘Code Peanut’ at Sly Tech Bar and gives a tangy experience. The other must tries on the menu are, Street Cola, Moscow Lassi, Boss’s Nightmare, Biryani Balls, SF BBQ chicken wings, Fish Pointing Fingers, Bull Anda and Boss - pulled mutton taco.
