Gympik is a Bengaluru-based online fitness discovery platform started by Amaresh Ojha and Karan Malik, enables people to find any kind of fitness related activities from every corner of India. Its main objective is to touch the lives of people by connecting them to most convenient ways of leading a fit and healthy lifestyle. It was started in 2013 and was launched in Mumbai and Delhi in 2015.

Sharing about the fitness venture Amaresh Ojha, founder of Gympik said, “Seven years back I was looking for a fitness centre and I searched for the workouts to help me stay fit. However, I did not find anything. That sparked an idea to start an online fitness portal. I, along with Karan Malik founded Gympik, a cloud-based software and a personalised app for fitness centres.”

About the app, he says “In the app one can choose a variety of fitness options, which are available nearby, including aerobics, martial arts, fitness studios, gyms, and more. One can choose a fitness centre that suits them and they can call to take the membership. Gympik efficiently determines the way people look at fitness and wellness. The purpose that led to this foundation was to make fitness and wellness accessible to people from every nook and corner of the country.”

“We provide 50-plus workouts. We majorly have Yoga, Power Yoga, Aerobics, Gyms, Zumba, Martial Arts, Dance and Cross Fit. Price ranges in between 6k to 30k per year in a centre and it varies depend on workouts,” he adds. Ojha informs that till now they have received good response and they have around 2-5 lakh unique customers on the portal. “As of 2016, we listed more than 12,000 fitness and wellness centres and 9,000 personal trainers from all over India.

We are also planning to introduce new fitness schemes like ‘Corporate Wellness’ in future. Our ultimate goal is to make people’s life simpler, smarter and healthier by making them discover the inner beauty.” Ojha, who was software professional, stated that he used to face many fitness issues due to heavy work at the office. He urges people to take some time out and start working out. “Today, in the fast-paced life people don’t have time to go to gyms, etc. It is very important to exercise to stay fit. We can see that people who are fit are happier than people who do not work out,” he concludes.
