The South Central Railway (SCR) took a significant step by taking up a Digital Payment Campaign towards making major Railway stations as fully Digital Payment Enabled. Vinod Kumar Yadav, general manager, SCR formally launched the campaign at Kacheguda Railway Station, which has been made a 100 per cent DigiPay station from Monday.

“This beginning will set the momentum for transforming 10 more stations as DigiPay Stations on SCR in Phase-I, followed by all other A1 & A category stations in a phase wise manner,” the General Manager informed.

An enthusiastic crowd of rail passengers, citizens including students and working professionals were present at the Digital Payment Campaign, which was also graced by several senior officials from SCR, RailTel and Andhra Bank including AK Gupta, Additional General Manager, P Ganeswara Rao, Chief Commercial Manager, Aruna Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Hyderabad Division, V Satyanarayana Murthy, Chief General Manager, Hyderabad Circle, Andhra Bank.

All transactions can now be done cashless by means of accessing the digital platform with the use of debit/credit cards, Mobile Paperless Ticketing and Payment through Digital Wallets. Point of Sale (PoS) Machines are put up at Ticket Counters, Parcel Office, Cloak Room, Food Court, Parking Stand, Retiring Rooms, Pre-paid AC Waiting Hall, Tea Stalls, Fruit and Juice Centres, Catering Units, Book Stall, Dairy Parlour etc.

The GM complimented the licensee of facilities/stalls at Kacheguda for pro-actively coming forward in the success of this endeavour. “Although, it was not mandatory in the contract for the licensees to provide for Digital PoS machine payment option, they came forward to join hands with Railways, which reflected their concern for a national cause. The efforts and continuous interaction that the Railway officials of Hyderabad Division had with the licensees, led to the results,” the General Manager opined.

The initiative of Andhra Bank in providing Point of Sales (PoS) machines to the required extent at the station was instrumental in shaping the plans of SCR to make Kacheguda a DigiPay Station. The High Speed WiFi access at Kacheguda provided by Rail Tel which serves the purpose of undertaking Digital Transactions also came in for praise from the General Manager. Selfie Boards propagating Kacheguda as DigiPay Station also attracted people.
