Ignorance on part of officials to complete the construction of the boundary wall on the Krishna Nagar Nala, Rasoolpura in Begumpet is becoming a bigger nuisance to residents now. Foul smell and health hazards apart, the edge of the nala has become a life threatening ‘exercise’ for residents who have to walk through the passage.

According to the residents there have been incidents when people fell into the nala even when passing through the area in broad daylight. Thankfully, no one died yet but there have been grave injuries. Not to forget the hundreds of children who have to pass through; if they walk there without adult supervision they may face unspeakable circumstances.

Residents rue that the incomplete construction work of the boundary wall has left them at a risk and the officials of Secunderabad Cantonment Boards (SCB) are paying no attention to their issues. G Ashok, a resident said that this open nala is one of the major issues in the area. “A few months ago a new bridge was constructed but they did not build it completely.”

“We approached the Cantonment officials many times, but they did not take up any action plan to extend the boundary wall,” he said. “It is petrifying for us to walk. Many people and children have fallen in this open nala during the day time as there is no proper road constructed. A few months ago the officials said that they would a boundary wall, but no one came forward,” said Rani, another resident.

“It becomes difficult for us to move around during the rainy season as the ground gets slippery and the water level in nala rises up,” said Satyamma. When contacted, Engineering officials of Secunderabad Cantonment Boards said, “Due to lack of funds, we are not able construct the wall completely. But the MLA has assured that he would provide funds for the construction of the wall.”
