A collage of emotions

Icon Art Gallery is conducting a solo exhibition of Shivkumar KV titled ‘Ready Made’. Shivkumar is a multidisciplinary artist and he works in mediums like painting, sculpture, installation, video and poetry. He hails from Vijayawada and studied BFA painting from Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University. Currently, he is working as a facilitator for art and clay modelling in a premier school.

Explaining about his theme, the artist said, “‘Ready Made’ is vivid and related to reality. It showcases the ups and downs of human life. The miniature collages have various emotions in it. For my miniature collages I used magazines, newspapers, and fluorescent paper” “The miniature collage pops out the wit and serious matters too. It showcases women; farmer’s life; celebrations; techno classics, etc. I painted what we see on a daily basis in our surroundings.”

Sharing about his style of the medium, he says, “I do surface painting like acrylic on canvas and paper, but for me, collage is another desire to cut intricate and juxtapose to the other imagery in the surrealistic and Dadaistic way. I also use terracotta, digital moving images, charcoal, etc.”
