The South Central Railway (SCR) has undertaken an extensive special Catering Drive against unauthorised hawking, overcharging and poor quality of food.

The South Central Railway (SCR) has undertaken an extensive special Catering Drive against unauthorised hawking, overcharging and poor quality of food. In this regard, special teams have been formed with Catering Inspectors, Ticket Checking Staff and Railway Protection Force Personnel to conduct the drive, which began on March 1 and will continue till March 15.

The special teams formed, conducted surprise checks on all major stations in the jurisdiction of Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Guntakal, Vijayawada, Guntur and Nanded Divisions. During the drives a total of 186 unauthorised cases were booked and an amount Rs 95,125 realised as penalty. Five persons were sent to the court for prosecution.

Divisional teams comprising commercial officials, catering inspectors of all six Divisions inspected the cleanliness being maintained at base kitchens, checked food items, weight of food items packed, preparation process etc. The officials also inspected various food stalls on Railway Station platforms.
