Speaking on the inaugural session of the two-day ‘National Interdisciplinary Conference to Optimise Antibiotic Usage for Better Therapeutic Outcomes’ at Sultan-Ul-Uloom College of Pharmacy, Dr Waheed said, “The use of bio-enhancers with drugs can also be explored as a solution to solve the problem of drug resistance.”

“At a time when drug resistance is a common problem to a cross section of medical practitioners around the globe, new technologies and new platforms must be explored to overcome the problem of drug resistance,” said Padmashree awardee Dr MA Waheed, former Director Central Research Institute of Unani Medicine (CRIUM).

Speaking on the inaugural session of the two-day ‘National Interdisciplinary Conference to Optimise Antibiotic Usage for Better Therapeutic Outcomes’ at Sultan-Ul-Uloom College of Pharmacy, Dr Waheed said, “The use of bio-enhancers with drugs can also be explored as a solution to solve the problem of drug resistance.”

He further stressed on exploring new ways to use bio-enhancers in our drugs while countering drug resistance. “We need to explore new technologies and embrace new platforms to overcome the drug resistance problem that has become almost ubiquitous,” he said.

He advised students to enrol into research programmes and make use of government funding to enhance their research. M Amruth Rao, Drug Controller and Licensing Authority extended a training opportunity to participating students.

Earlier, Dr Waheed and Dr Kakala Subba Rao, Director of KIMS Foundation were felicitated for their enormous contributions to the field of pharmacy and medicine while Principal of SUCP Dr.AnupamaKoneru delivered the welcome address.

Sultan-Ul-Uloom Education Society (SUES) Chairman Khan Lateef Khan, Mohammed Waliullah, Vice-Chairman SUES, Former Secretary of SUES Dr Hyder Khan, Prof SA Wahab, Dr B Prabha Shankar, President, IPA Telangana, Dr Mir Akbar Ali Khan, Treasurer SUES, Srinivas, Asst Drug Controller and Amir Javeed were also present on the occasion.
