Quest for safety

Manch Theatre Group recently staged a play ‘Bhavitha’ to showcase how people are treating women. The play ‘Bhavitha’ directed by Srikanth Banala is a story of a mother and her daughter. The woman always dreams of great future for her daughter. But her husband always drunk, beats and sexually assaults her.

One day he is beaten up by the villagers for sexually assaulting a girl. Shocked with her husband’s behaviour, the woman starts fearing about her daughter’s future. She thinks, her husband may assault her and the daughter at any moment. She also thinks that her daughter will be saved only if she kills her, before her husband does anything to the baby girl.

She gives poison to her. After knowing this incident, the father cries and realizes his mistakes. All of a sudden, the baby starts moving and they rushed to hospital. The play ends with stressing the importance of safety for girls that starts at home.
