‘Doyenne’ is a culmination of events to support the enhancement of sanitation facilities for the girl child at government schools. Bringing together individuals from three different walks of life, they presented with Project 511 an art workshop auctioned to raise funds benefitting the girl child.

As a prelude on March 8, an interactive workshop was conducted and created by the Doyenners, eminent women of the city and young budding artists from Project 511. The artworks were auctioned on the same day and a part of the proceeds was donated to the schools under Project 511.

The auction included other works from renowned artists like Thota Vaikuntam, Ramesh Gorjala, Sachin Jaltare, HR Das and others whose part proceeds will support the Project 511.

Curated by Wahida Ahmed, the group show is on display for a month at The Art walkway in Park Hyatt Hyderabad. Artist Sonali Gandhi painted acrylic on canvas and portrayed the role of women in this world. “I tried to showcase the women’s role in this world. A woman is intelligent, can take any decisions, she is finally strong and also takes care of the family among other things,” she shared.

Another artist Saraswathi Lingampally, who created a painting depicting a woman adorned with coins and she also pasted a UK Pound, which has an image of Queen Elizabeth, on the painting. “In our country, we call money as “Lakshmi” and pray the goddess of money Lakshmi Devi, but we do not have a picture of women in our currency,” she said.
