Global food with a local twist and so much more, says Executive Chef Rohan Phillip of Glocal Junction, who was in Hyderabad to launch the new menu for the season. The passionate chef hosted the food tasting session and it was quite a journey around the world.

If you are a regular, you will not miss your favourites on the new menu. As is the tradition, some of the popular items on the old menu like Grilled potato skin and Grilled paneer with peri peri sauce and Biryani risotto are all retained.

What to look out for on the revamped menu are the increased vegetarian options - French fries – the omnipresent finger food served with lemon and peri peri mayo dips; Colocasia Tuk – who would have thought that Arvi will make its way into a global cuisine restaurant – hand-smashed and double fried and tossed in Indian masala to go with your drink on a Saturday night or the Tokri chaat – filo baskets filled with the goodness of Indian chaat.

The must try at Glocal are the Doner Puri – Indian street food gets Lebanese touch - stuffed with Lebanese chicken, hummus and lettuce topped with Tomaya (Egyptian garlic sauce), it is delicious to the last bite; spicy as the name suggests - dynamite prawns; succulent Buffalo chicken wings, and Dosa Waffle with chicken sukka – I bow my head to the innovation – the dosa gets done in a waffle maker and is topped with the Mangalorean chicken curry making it a finger-lickingly good combo.

Be it the Spanish appetisers Tapas topped with Ricotta cheese, mushrooms and asparagus tossed in Indian masala and jalapenos that leave a sharp bite on your tongue or Kadhai mushroom on the crunchy potato rostie – the spice levels are maintained as per the popular Hyderabadi palette.

While the pastas have always been cheesy and unputdownable at Glocal, one must surely try the ‘Kachapuri’ – Georgian national dish that is a chicken mince, cheese, topped with fried egg sunny side up served on a boat shaped hot pie, which has, quite interestingly, a very Indian sounding name; and Rice Conjee Rissoto with Soy grilled fish – for taste of the classics.

On the dessert menu, the Kalkatta paan cheesecake continues, the addition - Oreo Banoffee Muffin looks good and tastes well too. The new menu finds its way into the Sunday buffet too, but personally, I would recommend ala carte when at GlocalJunction. Also find on the new menu Watermelon and Feta Salad, Caesar Salad, Chicken Salami Calzone, Mexican Vegetable Empanadas, and Masala chai Pannacotta.
